COME HOME

ree

Come home.

The impact of these words left me stunned. Reading those words across the screen made me hold my breath. It made me ask, Where have I been all this time? Who have I become?

So, I sat with these words. The words that were more than words, but were a command, an observation, an invitation. For so many months (maybe even years), I spent time pouring and hoping for others, I believed partially for myself, but was it enough?

Sitting in the moment made me realize that I, maybe you too, have not been as stationed as we believed. It’s as if we are parked in the driveway but never make it into the home.

Why is that?

Shame, fear, guilt, worry, defeat, misunderstanding, miscommunication, self-doubt, and the unhealed traumas (or partially healed) are why.  We often spend time pouring into others so much that we rarely look within and self-reflect. And, when we do, what we see isn’t always the most beautiful pieces, so instead of unpacking the truth of our being, we busy ourselves with things that keep us away from home.

Where is Home?

In the arms of the Father. Home is more than a still location; it is a moving vehicle and a hospital all at once. Home is a presence, not a position. He is home. He is the peace that comes to us in our times of trouble. He is the bridge that helps us to overcome warfare. He is the hug we need when we worry or doubt. He is the discipline and discernment when the enemy knows that we are so close and wants to distract us. He is home. He is safety in the jungle, he is the calm for our raging thoughts, and He is the stillness when we feel like we are in pure chaos. The Father is home.

How do we find home again?

You don’t have to click your heels three times like Dorothy, but you must decide to seek Him. It is in your quest that not only do you find him, but you also find you. You can find yourself, because you are the mirror of Him. (How beautiful it is, to reflect the Most High). How beautiful it is to be created in his image. This means that there is always room for grace in your growth. While God is pure, we are not blameless, but the blood has covered and covers us all. This means that grace is past and present.

Proverbs 8:17 “I love those who love me, And those who diligently seek me will find me.

Do not allow your current circumstance to speak louder than the truth. You can always come home again.  Home is a place of rest.  Be rooted. Be Rested. Be Well.
