Delayed Desires

Often, life comes at us fast, and we deal with joy and grief. As we begin a new month, today I encourage you to breathe. Breathe out with joy in knowing that you made it another day. Breathe out, knowing that though your season may feel cold or lonely, you are not alone.

Last night, I journaled with the focus on November. God tends to speak to me through writing, and He didn’t disappoint. One thing God shared with me for at least November is to dwell in the secret place and find rest in Him. He shared this with me, but I understand it's much deeper now.

God showed me that He knows I know he is real and loves me, but he also showed me that I have yet to surrender and trust him with the deepest desire of my heart. As I was writing, I almost stopped writing because the truth of that pill was deep.

Can you relate? Have you given God yes to everything but the one area you seek the most? Have you given him your desire to relocate, work within a specific industry or company, become happily married, or become a parent? Take a moment to think about your deepest desire and ask yourself if you have released it. If you can honestly answer yes, CONGRATS! If you hesitate or quickly say no, breathe. There is grace for that; this is not a place of shame or condemnation. This is a place of accountability.

Deep Thought Questions

What will it take for you to give that desire to God?

If God doesn’t bring that desire to fruition, will you still love and follow Him?

Can you find joy in the wait of your desire?

It's more than okay not to know the answers to these questions above right now, but I encourage you to do internal work to find the answer. When you seek Him, you must include your pure faith that what He has assigned for your life is yours. I encourage you to meditate on these scriptures during your quiet time. Allow God to soften the space that you haven’t surrendered.

Scriptures

Lamentations 3:25-26 (NIV) - "The LORD is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD."

Romans 15:13 (NIV) - "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."

2 Peter 3:8: "But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day."

Prayer

Lord, I thank you for my sister. I thank you that what she read today will touch her heart and that she will seek to grow further in you. Though our desires may feel delayed, you are the God who does not operate in worldly times. May she find rest knowing that you are NOT a God that lies? May she find peace in your presence and joy in her journey. I thank you now that the weariness she may have been holding is released because she has renewed her faith in you. Lord, bless her in this time and allow her to dwell with you.

Amen
