What is “His Sword”
His sword is his forgiveness, his peace, his anointing, his overflow, his abundance, his favor, his grace, his mercy, and my favorite, his constant invitation of his unending love.
How Do We Obtain It
While His Sword is endless, your efforts must be true. Your desire to know and grow with God must be intentional. In addition to it being intentional, it must also be in constant pursuit.
One of the things I struggle with in my relationship with God is my lack of patience. I desire to grow and know Him but I have often struggled with giving up during the process. I have felt that God didn’t feel like talking to me. I have felt that he didn’t take my desire seriously. I have felt angry and unworthy. Several times, this has kept me from sitting before Him and having Quiet Time.
Acknowledge
We obtain His sword by first acknowledging that He is Lord. Acknowledging that he sent His Son to die and that his Spirit walks with us daily.
Development
After we acknowledge and ACCEPT we develop our relationship with God. We repent of our worldly sin and flesh and submit ourselves to live a righteous life.
Romans 12:2 (ESV) teaches us to “not be transformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
This does not mean that everything will go away and that you will have no sin or struggle. It does mean that God has washed and cleansed you and that He has forgiven you for your past. It is a new start. When we develop something, we develop it with the thought of it be being great, clean and most importantly that it solves an issue. We as the body of Christ are designed to be solvers of problems. We solve the problems of the world NOT on our own, but through the LIVING Word. We go back to manual when we get stumped and we try again until we get it right!
Release
We would never release our development until it was ready. A mother does not birth a baby until the baby informs her that she/he is ready. The same iS true in the spiritual realm. God will not release those who are not yet ready. You are His precious gift. God is our Father and he covers us. Too often we feel ready and ask God to release us into the jungle. Because He loves us so much, he doesn’t always release us when we ask. What a mean God right? Nope, it is for our own good.
Releasing a product or service before it is ready can cause damage and may require rewiring.
In the spiritual realm, running out before you are ready WILL cause a setback, delay, hurt and burden that God didn’t want for us. This is why it is so important to trust God’s timing and His plan for each of us.
The Lightbulb
His sword is always available for us. We simply must ask for it, accept it, treasure it and do the work that is assigned to us. God’s love for us is so big that we could never truly grasp it all. We must be intentional. We must be surrendered.
Let’s talk about the word surrender and what it truly means. Surrender is defined as “cease resistance to an enemy or opponent and submit to their authority“. While this definition sounds scary, it is also very strong and direct.
Merriam-Webster gives the definition of surrender as to yield to the power, control or possession of another compulsion or demand. This is the definition that pierced my heart (in a good way.) It was a reminder that when we surrender to God, he equips us with His Sword.
